Refugee Services in Honolulu

Pacific Gateway Center (PGC) is Hawai'i's Refugee Resettlement Agency in partnership with the United States Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI).  Our organization offers assistance and support to the uprooted with resettlement in the United States as they rebuild their lives. Our goal is to empower refugees towards leading self-sufficient lives. Families and individuals from all over the world find it necessary to flee from their homes in fear of persecution and choose the United States as a new home offering safety and opportunity.

Pacific Gateway Center administers the federal Matching Grant and Reception and Placement Program, funded by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)  to provide essential services to refugees and their families to meet critical needs and to reclaim their lives.

Therefore, our assistance includes helping with affordable housing, employment, clothing, food, health care, education, and English classes, interpretation and translation, public transportation, community institutions, community and cultural orientations. Bilingual refugee caseworkers assist with applying for essential government documents, such as social security card and health care, and registering their children in schools.  PGC facilitates developing a local support system for refugees and eventually helps engage them in civically to become contributing members of our community.
