The Pig & The Lady

About the pig & the lady

The Pig & The Lady has partnered with Pacific Gateway Center, a nonprofit committed to supporting and assisting immigrants, refugees and low-income residents, and has taken over Lemongrass Cafe at 83 North King Street. As a part of this partnership, The Pig & The Lady will be employing PGC client-participants in their work training program and using produce PGC clients are planning to grow on their farms.

"The Pacific Gateway Center (PGC) is deeply honored and very excited about The Pig & The Lady coming to the Lemongrass Cafe! This is going to be a wonderful partnership!” said PGC Executive Director Dr. Tin Myaing Thein. “Following in the steps of Lemongrass' signature Southeast Asian cuisine, The Pig & The Lady offers an eclectic and savory array of Vietnamese delectable cuisine that is extremely popular on the farmers' markets and pop-up circuits! From success at the farmers markets to their fabulous pop-ups, The Pig & The Lady's move to a permanent location is the right step in the incubation process.”

The restaurant has taken elements from their menus at the farmers markets and noodle bar pop-ups (last held at pop-up space Taste and Honolulu Night Markets) and serves Vietnamese street food-style lunches for the fast-paced downtown crowd and imaginatively tasty dinners and late-night snack food for the nighttime crowd.

The Pig & The Lady has expanded their catering department to cater events, ranging from small meetings to big events. Product launch parties, weddings, and graduations take note! The restaurant also has their own online shop for fans who want to pick up a jar of kaya jam, a tote bag, or a t-shirt. You can still find them at Farmers Markets on Oahu.

“After a little over 2 years of working without a permanent space, we feel it’s time to take the next step. This brick and mortar will provide a central hub for our many operations, including the new restaurant, the farmer’s market, which will still continue in conjunction with the restaurant, and developing our catering department,” says The Pig and the Lady Founder, Chef Andrew Le (pronounced LAY). “We just want to do this simple and right. In the end, it’s about good food and good company.”

Creator, owner and chef, Le is the mastermind behind the innovative pop-up restaurant, The Pig & The Lady. Le is the only chef among Hawaii’s culinary cognoscenti cooking contemporary food built on Vietnamese flavors - a foundation built on delicious memories first introduced by his mother. The food concept he has developed is modern, fresh take on traditional Vietnamese food, utilizing local product, delivering sandwiches, rice dishes and noodles that have garnered rave reviews. The Pig & The Lady was currently noted as the number one restaurant in the Honolulu magazine's Top 100 Dishes issue.
