Walk the Farm Awards $10,000 for Kona Low Recovery
9 жовтня 2026 р.

The 2026 Walk the Farm supported farmers in Hawaiʻi and Japan affected by disasters.
Pacific Gateway Center received a generous $10,000 grant from Walk the Farm to support our Kona Low recovery efforts, helping farmers affected by the storms recover and rebuild.
Organized by Tanaka Farms in Irvine, California, and the Orange Coast Optimist (OCO) Club, Walk the Farm began in 2011 to help farmers recover from Japan’s devastating earthquake and tsunami. The initiative has since expanded its support to farmers affected by natural disasters elsewhere, including Hawaiʻi.
Walk the Farm also celebrates Japanese American farming history through The Issei & Nisei Farmers: Their Legacy project. Stories and photographs shared by farming families are preserved online and displayed at Tanaka Farms, honoring the contributions and perseverance of first- and second-generation Japanese American farmers. This legacy connects meaningfully with PGC’s work supporting immigrant farmers and their families today.

Mahalo to Farmer Glenn Tanaka, Tanaka Farms, Walk the Farm, the OCO Club, and their supporters for their generosity and commitment to helping Hawaiʻi’s farmers recover and rebuild.
