Hawaii Language Bank

Pacific Gateway Center has contracted with interpretation platform provider, Lexikeet, to make scheduling interpretation appointments easier and more convenient.  We can now offer video and on-demand interpretation services in addition to our usual on-site and telephone services!

Recognizing that almost 25% of Hawaii population speak a language other than English at home (identified as Limited English Proficiency or LEP), Pacific Gateway Center's Hawaii Language Bank ensures language access to the community. PGC’s Hawaii Language Bank offers interpretation and translation services to the community in more than 35 languages to ensure language access. With a pool of over 40 bilingual interpreters and translators, the Hawaii Language Bank provides our multilingual community services to local agencies, organizations and other community groups in need of bilingual services.

PGC operates its Hawaii Language Bank that provides to the community professional and certified interpretation and translation services to support immigrants and refugees access social services, deal with immigration and legal issues and resolve transition arrangements.

For Interpreters and Translators

If you are interested in becoming an interpreter for HLB, you will need to be an Independent Contractor. This means you will need to obtain a General Excise Tax (GET) license and a business registered name and be responsible for all insurance. To register your business name and to get GET license, complete the process online here
