After supporting Maui wildfire survivors through their long-term recovery, Pacific Gateway Center’s Disaster Case Management Program (DCMP) concluded on September 30, 2026.

Together, our team served more than 500 families across languages, provided 2,233 referrals valued at over $26 million, and achieved approximately a 75% successful case closure rate.

Since joining the disaster recovery effort, PGC’s case managers worked directly with individuals and families affected by the Maui wildfires, helping them navigate a complex recovery process. Our team assisted survivors in identifying needs, developing recovery plans, accessing available resources, overcoming barriers, and connecting with community and government services.

For several members of PGC’s Maui team, this work was deeply personal. They were themselves Lahaina residents and PGC clients who had lost their homes and their jobs at small businesses destroyed by the fires. Their experiences brought a personal understanding to their work supporting others navigating loss and recovery.

This work required much more than managing cases. Recovery can take months or years, and every household’s circumstances are different. Our case managers built relationships and trust with survivors, helping families navigate changing needs and difficult decisions as they worked toward greater stability.

As PGC’s DCMP work comes to an end, we recognize the dedication of our case managers and staff who served Maui during an extraordinarily challenging period. Their work reflects PGC’s longstanding commitment to meeting people where they are and helping individuals and families build pathways toward stability and self-sufficiency.

While this chapter of PGC’s service is closing, Maui’s recovery continues. We are grateful to the survivors who trusted our team, to the community partners who worked alongside us, and especially to our DCMP staff for the compassion, persistence, and professionalism they brought to this work every day.

Mahalo to our 2026 DCMP team—Paullettee Cabrera, Carolina Davis, Mercy Gordils, Nadia Gotovtseva, Lana Gurianova, Jarod Ishimi, Crystal Kionia, Actson Langbata, Dayana Lynch, Jeremy Nagle, Nerisha Niu, Fipe Pale, Analyn Sarian, and Kalesita Serna-Ames—and everyone who has been part of the program over the past three years for representing Pacific Gateway Center and our mission with such care throughout Maui’s recovery.
